The power of groups
We believe, and its a belief held by the thousands of people who are active in the self help community here in Nottinghamshire, and backed up by relevant research, that particpation in groups can considerably improve people's health and social well-being. What's more is it has a positive impact on health and social care services.
Groups are places where you can share experiences and learn different ways to live with your condition or overcome any challenges you may face. But perhaps more than that, they're a place where you can find long-term friends.
Groups mean help, support, or just a place to have a good natter. They provide people with a safe place to talk to others who are in the same boat.
Self Help Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has been working in the city and county for over 30 years. Our ultimate aim is to support groups and help people get involved. We also want to help promote groups and their power to health and social care professionals.
In Nottinghamshire, we have over 200 groups, which cover a wide-range of subjects.

And if you can't find a group, which fits your needs then we can help you start one up! Read Wendy's story to see how she did it!
We can provide advice and support for practitioners too.
