Self Help Nottingham is a unique charity providing support and development opportunities for self help groups and their members in Nottinghamshire. Our services include:
- Information enquiry service about local self help groups and services that support the health and wellbeing of local communities, local self help development agencies in the UK and national single issue organisations.
- The Recovery Network, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire - helps to develop drug, alcohol and addiction groups. The Network also aims to provide access to a range of different approaches to recovery and to link in with both self help groups and professionals.
- The annual Directory of Self Help Groups, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire 2011, with over 200 local self help groups and around 100 useful contact organisations and services, for individuals living with a range of conditions and their carers.
- Practical services for self help support groups - mail box and redirection, use of meeting rooms, desk top publishing, photocopying and newsletters.
- Training and development support for groups - a range of open workshops, networking opportunities and work with individual groups in response to their particular needs.
- Outreach and group development support specifically for black, minority ethnic and refugee led communities.
- Self help development across Nottinghamshire offering enhanced support to self help workers and raising the profile and effectiveness of self help activities across the county.
- Service User and Carer Involvement work at strategic and operational levels with local NHS organisations and in partnership with the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Physiotherapy at The University of Nottingham.

New Groups
There are a number of new groups in Nottinghamshire:
BASE Bariatric Self Help Group, Nottingham
A new self help group for people who have had or are about to have bariatric (weight-loss) surgery (for example gastric band, stomach bypass) and for carers and family members.
Cancer Journey, Long Eaton
A group for cancer patients (not carers) in Long Eaton, Beeston, Chilwell and surrounding areas.
Carer Groups: Long Term Neurological Conditions, Nottingham A professionally-facilitated group supporting people who care for someone with a long-term neurological condition (including multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and motor neurone disease).
Carers of Adults, Arnold
A general carers' group for people who care for adults in Arnold and Gedling.
Clifton Mental Health Forum Support Group, for Carers and Service Users
A professionally-facilitated support group for mental health service users and for carers who live in Clifton.
Disordered Eating, Nottingham
A group for people who are currently suffering, or who have previously suffered from, disordered eating e.g. anorexia, bulimia, compulsive eating, obesity, exercise addiction etc.
Eastwood Women's Care Group
A professionally facilitated group for women who are using or have used mental health services, that live in or near to Eastwood.
Leeway Bereavement support Group, Nottingham
A self help group offering one-to-one and group support for families, carers and friends who have lost a loved one due to substance use.
LGBT Recovery Group, Nottingham
A new user-led support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people to meet safely and discuss everyday issues around addiction.
Notts Peer to Peer Network
A support network and self help group run by and for anyone using mental health services in Nottinghamshire. Also aims to provide access to useful information about support agencies, training and issues relating to mental health and well-being.

Positive Outcomes, Nottingham
An alcohol recovery self help group offering a supportive, confidential environment where people can share their experiences, difficulties and concerns about alcohol and plan for the future.
Sickle Cell Parents' Group, Nottingham
A self help group for parents of children and babies with sickle cell and thalassaemia.
SMART Recovery Group, Nottingham
A self help group, offering support to people who have problems with unhelpful behaviours, such as addiction, open to people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Tagadere Gay Men's Group, Nottingham
A new social group for HIV positive gay men in Nottingham.
The Friday Friendship Group (TFFG), Nottingham
A friendship group open to anyone in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, welcoming people to come along, chat and make new friends (previously called Together at the Embankment).
