Self Help Nottingham is a unique charity providing support and development opportunities for self help groups and their members in Nottinghamshire. Our services include:
- Information enquiry service about local self help groups and services that support the health and wellbeing of local communities, local self help development agencies in the UK and national single issue organisations.
- The annual Directory of Self Help Support Groups, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, listing established groups in south Nottinghamshire, Mansfield and Ashfield as well as local, regional and national contacts and resources for individuals living with a range of conditions and their carers.
- Practical services for self help support groups - mail box and redirection, use of meeting rooms, desk top publishing, photocopying and newsletters.
- Training and development support for groups - a range of open workshops, networking opportunities and work with individual groups in response to their particular needs.
- Outreach and group development support specifically for black, minority ethnic and refugee led communities.
- Self help development across Nottinghamshire offering enhanced support to self help workers and raising the profile and effectiveness of self help activities across the county.
- Service User and Carer Involvement work at strategic and operational levels with local NHS organisations and in partnership with the University of Nottingham School of Nursing.

New Groups
There are a number of new groups in Nottinghamshire:
Adapt, Nottingham
A small positive self help support group, welcoming people who are interested in overcoming anxiety, depression and isolation; meeting to share coping strategies and to try safe social outings.
Adults with Asperger's Syndrome Self Help Group, Nottingham
A group that aims to help and support adults with Asperger's syndrome (and perhaps high functioning autism) in the Nottingham area.
Adults with Sickle Cell Anaemia, Nottingham
A professionally-facilitated group trying out a once a month meeting for adults with sickle cell anaemia. Also aims to support friends and family.
BAC-IN Women's Group (for Partners and Family), Nottingham
A new group facilitated by a professional in Bac-In (Black and Asian Cultural Identification of Narcotics), supporting black and Asian women who are partners or family of people seeking recovery from substance abuse (drugs and alcohol).
Bereavement Keyworth
A bereavement self help group for people in Keyworth.
Breast Friends, Nottingham
Informal coffee mornings (free of charge) and occasional park strolls, for people with secondary breast cancer.
Carers of Adults, Arnold
A general carers' group for people who care for adults in Arnold and Gedling.
Kente, Nottingham
A group for African Carribean people who may be experiencing everyday stress and/or discrimination.
North Notts Positive Links Support Groups
A professionally-run self help group for people living with HIV or AIDS in Newark or Bassetlaw.
QMC Talking Epilepsy, Nottingham
A new self help support group offering people the space, ease to talk about epilepsy and the opportunity to share experience, interest and concerns. For patients, family and carers affected by epilepsy.
Sickle Cell Parents' Group, Nottingham
A self help group for parents of children and babies with sickle cell and thalassaemia. Offers a chance for parents to get together and provide ideas, views and experiences of caring.
Tinnitus, Nottingham
A self help group for people with tinnitus and their families. Open to new and to existing sufferers. Aims to share information and increase knowledge and awareness.
