Time to Change Community Champions
What is a Time to Change Community Champion?
Time to Change Community Champions are people who use their own experience of mental health issues to change the way we think and act around mental health. This may include:
- Talking openly about mental health in your community and workplace
- Speaking up when stereotypes or misinformation about mental health are used
- Running activities and events
- Sharing knowledge with other Champions
Interested in becoming a Champion?
Come and find out more at one of our free information sessions. Contact Velma for more details: email@example.com
We offer free training and opportunities for linking up with other Champions.
We are running events in October, as part of Nottingham Mental Health Awareness Week, where Community Champions will share their experiences. See our Events listings.
What is the time commitment?
We realise that time is precious, but any small amount of time you have to challenge stigma and discrimination will make a difference. For some Champions it is simply enough to be a Champion in their own daily life and that's great.
For others, who have more time to offer, the Time to Change website has lots of suggestions, including becoming Workplace Champions.
Time to Change Champions Groups
Nottingham Time to Change will be bringing together local Champions with lived mental health experience to shape the Nottingham Time to Change Action Plan.
There is a pot of funding that registered Community Champions can apply to, for running activities which spark conversations between people about mental health. Please see our Nottingham Champions Fund page.
