Self Help UK announces new leadership team.

The Trustees of Self Help UK are delighted to announce a leadership transition following the recent departure of Ian Boyd as Chief Executive Officer. After a thorough recruitment process, we are pleased to introduce two exceptional leaders who will jointly guide the organisation.

Introducing our new leadership

Samantha Barklam has joined Self Help UK as Chief Executive Officer. Samantha brings extensive experience as a Non-Executive and Director, with a proven track record in managing organisational improvement programmes across Government, the VCSE sector, FTSE 100 companies, and SMEs. Her strategic insight and systems-thinking approach will be instrumental in ensuring the core of Self Help UK operates as efficiently as possible in order to deliver impact for the communities we serve.

Sarah Collis returns to Self Help UK as Cancer Projects Director. Sarah previously led the charity as Chief Executive Officer from 2008 to 2021 and brings a wealth of knowledge from her work in the voluntary sector. Her deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing charities today, combined with her passion for people-centred leadership and innovation, will strengthen our cancer support projects and help secure sustainable funding for the future.

A collaborative approach

Over the next six months, Samantha will focus on strengthening the core operations of Self Help UK and managing the central team, while Sarah will lead on Macmillan projects and delivery teams. Together, they bring a powerful combination of strategic vision, operational expertise, and a shared commitment to empowering individuals and communities through peer support.

Looking ahead

Self Help UK remains deeply committed to its mission of supporting people through peer-led initiatives. We will continue to keep our community informed and engaged as we navigate this new chapter.

Thank you for your continued support.
