Bridging the Digital Divide: A Healthier Future

Through our partnership with Digital Notts, we have been working to improve digital inclusion and health literacy in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The project has shown how vital digital skills are for improving wellbeing.

Key highlights:

  • Digital literacy: Many clients had technology but needed help using it. Building basic digital skills will remain a focus.
  • Staff training: Training staff and volunteers as Digital Health Champions was effective and will continue.
  • Resources: We are now members of the National Digital Inclusion Network and the National Databank.
  • Sustainability: Long-term support is crucial, with plans for ongoing learning resources and partnerships.
  • Community engagement: Success with peer support groups and drop-in sessions will shape our future strategies.

We continue to explore innovative ways to integrate digital skills training into our services, aiming to bridge the digital divide and empower clients to take control of their health and wellbeing. By integrating these learnings, we aim to create a more digitally inclusive community, strengthening our impact.

Self Help UK: Back to our roots

Last month our CEO, Ian Boyd, met our founder, Judy Wilson. Judy shared great memories of the early times at the charity. Ian says, “Judy was able to give me a good run down of how they used to operate and was amazed by how far the charity had now come… all in all, a lovely moment of reconnection!”. We look forward to staying in touch!

Reflections on the past year

Staff and trustees met last month for our AGM and to celebrate a busy year of achievements, with many lives positively impacted. We’re excited for the future and our vision to empower individuals and communities through guidance, connection, and peer support, to create a healthier society.
