Self Help UK is proud to unveil its Impact Report for April 2024 to March 2025.

Our latest report shows a transformative year of strategic renewal, community empowerment, and expanded support services. With over 43,000 individuals impacted, the report highlights our commitment to peer-led support and community development across the UK.

Under the leadership of CEO Ian Boyd, Self Help UK has embraced a refreshed strategy guided by a new Theory of Change, focusing on three core pillars:

  • Empowering individuals
  • Empowering communities
  • Empowering the sector

We have listened to stakeholders and beneficiaries, ensuring our services remain responsive, inclusive, and impactful.

Key highlights from the report:

  • Deaf Cancer Support Service reached over 1,200 people, offering culturally appropriate support in British Sign Language (BSL). A total of 81 members, including both deaf people and carers, were supported across all our DCSP work (an increase of 33% on the previous year).
  • Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Service supported 308 cancer patients, with 100% satisfaction and significant improvements in mental health and wellbeing.
  • Learning Centre saw 294 enrolments in peer support courses and workshops, and launched a new website featuring a peer support group directory.
  • Primary Care Network Cancer Coordination and Prehabilitation Link Worker services provided holistic care to cancer patients, despite sector-wide challenges.
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) initiatives included BSL training for staff, a new Muslim Staff Network, and a workforce where 52% identify as non-White British, reflecting the diversity of the communities we serve.
