Macmillan service at Southwell Fun Day

A successful volunteer scheme, which has already supported 450 people affected by cancer, attended Southwell Fun Day.
The Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Service, run in partnership with Self Help UK, has gone from strength to strength since it launched two years ago and has just recruited its 200th volunteer. The service had a stand at the recent Southwell Fun Day to engage with the local community.
Josh Wood, one of the service's coordinators, said, "I had the privilege to speak to some inspiring people who are interested in volunteering to support people affected by cancer."
Services like this are essential given that a recent Macmillan survey predicted that by 2030 there will be 69,000 people in Nottinghamshire living with and beyond cancer, double the existing figure.
We are currently recruiting volunteers. Are you able to help by volunteering for 1-2 hours a week? Volunteer support can be emotional support over a cuppa, helping with shopping of going to a local cafe. If you are interested, please complete our volunteer form [link] or call us on 0115 911 1662
