Self Help UK announces that our CEO, Ian Boyd, will be stepping down from his role later this year to take up an exciting new position leading a mental health charity that harnesses the power of the outdoors to support wellbeing.

Ian’s final working day will be Friday 3 October 2025. Reflecting on his time with us, Ian said:

“I have loved my time at Self Help UK. The staff, trustees and the work we do are very special, and as I work through my notice period I will be doing everything I can to ensure a strong future for everyone connected to the charity.”

Our Chair of Trustees, Nina Ennis, said:

“Ian has been a great leader over the past two years, bringing energy, vision and commitment to our work. His leadership has helped us strengthen our services, develop new partnerships and navigate significant challenges. We wish him every success in his new role.”

The recruitment process for Ian’s successor is already under way. The role of Managing Director (Fixed Term – 6 Months) is now being advertised, and the job description can be viewed here.

Looking Ahead

The Trustees would like to reassure our staff, funders, partners and the people we support that plans are in place to ensure a smooth transition and the continued delivery of our vital work. Conversations with key funders and partners are ongoing, and we look forward to sharing further updates in due course.

Self Help UK remains committed to our mission – empowering individuals and communities through peer support – and we will continue to build on the strong foundations in place for a positive future.
