Salary: £24,000 pro rata

Self Help UK is proud to be working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and The local Primary Care Networks 8 (Clifton and Meadows area) and 6 Nottingham City East (Mapperly, St Anne’s, Sneinton areas) to support the uptake of cancer screening programmes and increase the availability of cancer care reviews within the GP practices.
Working closely with health staff at GP practices for 6-8 weeks at a time, the successful applicant will have experience of working with a diverse community and will be responsible for raising awareness of cancer screening opportunities, increasing uptake among people from the local community. Community engagement will include working with groups of people from a range of ethnic backgrounds who speak a number of different languages including Urdu, Punjabi, Polish, Arabic, Czech, Romanian and Tigrinyan.
The post will also, as part of a close knit team supporting people affected by cancer across Nottinghamshire, undertake individual needs assessments, develop support plans and directly support people who have had a cancer diagnosis.
