This week, our Cancer Care Coordination team attended the Health and Wellbeing Event in the Meadows Community Centre, supporting patients from Clifton and The Meadows in Nottingham. It was an inspiring day filled with meaningful conversations, practical support, and a shared commitment to improving health outcomes in our city and community.

Our stall focused on raising awareness about the importance of cancer screening, including bowel, breast, and cervical checks, with the key messages of:
“Don’t be the one to miss out on your cancer screening invitation” and “Screening Saves Lives.”
We were thrilled to see such positive engagement. Here are just a few highlights from the day:
– 3 mammograms booked
– 5 bowel cancer screening kits requested
– Supported individuals with concerns about symptoms, encouraging GP appointments
– Shared vital information on prostate health
Meanwhile, our colleagues on the Beyond Diagnosis stand had fantastic conversations with over 25 visitors, sharing experiences, offering resources, and even sparking interest in volunteering. Several people took leaflets, and one potential volunteer left their details – thank you!

We also signposted attendees to additional support services, including the Macmillan Support Line, local Information Hubs, and community resources like the Carers Hub and Disability Support. And there was even some belly dancing with Janet from When Women Gather – a joyful reminder that wellbeing is about body and soul!
This event truly showcased the power of community, connection and collaboration. A huge thank you to the organisers and to everyone who stopped by to chat with us.
We’d love to keep the conversation going. If you’d like us to attend your local community event to share knowledge, resources, and support, please get in touch!
