“So it is with mixed emotions that I have to tell you that after 13 years as CEO, I have decided to step down…”

“The pandemic has been hard on all of us and I have been so humbled by the efforts many of you have made to keep your groups going and keep people connected.
Throughout 2020 and continuing into this year, SHUK shifted how we operated and developed new ways of working to reach as many groups as possible. Some of those changes have become our ‘new normal’ with online training and networks being a great way to keep up to date and connected to each other.
In March this year we successfully applied to the National Lottery Community Fund to make our dream of supporting groups everywhere across the UK a reality. We now have 3 years funding to expand our reach beyond Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and to offer you all the support you need to restore and recover from the pandemic.
So it is with mixed emotions that I have to tell you that after 13 years as CEO, I have decided to step down and make room for new leadership to take SHUK into this exciting future. As CEO at Self Help, I have worked with so many people and seen hundreds of groups thrive, grow and do amazing things. I want to thank all of you for the difference you make in the world and to each other. I am so proud to have been able to be part of the Self Help journey and I believe I am leaving the organisation with a very bright future as we emerge from the pandemic.
Keep doing what you do because together, you change lives.”
