Training for self-help groups

Our annual training and development calendar for groups offers a mix of training courses, networking events and development sessions. Networking events bring together groups with a common area of interest. They are relatively informal and offer members an opportunity to meet others, swap ideas, catch-up on news and developments and to monitor trends across their area of interest. Networking events include:

  • Hospital Networks
  • Cancer Groups Network
  • The Diabetes Network

Development sessions include New Groups Evening and Key Members Day. Both events bring together groups at a similar stage of development and enable participants to share problems, challenges and success stories.

Training events vary from six week courses to one off workshops. Our training calendar aims to offer a good mix of evening, weekend and midweek events. Unless otherwise stated, training and networking events are free and open to members of self help groups which meet in the Greater Nottingham area. The courses aim to be open, accessible and welcoming to all members of self help groups. To this end, Self Help Nottingham will make every effort to provide support and resources to enable participants with special needs to fully participate in the training we offer.
