Self help across the County
Since 2003 Self Help Nottingham has worked in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council's Department of Adult Social Care and Health to ensure that self help infrastructure across the county is well supported and that health and social care staff are aware of best practice in working with the high number of self help groups offering a wide range of services across the county.
Christine Precious is the County Self Help Development Worker and her role is funded by the Adult Social Care and Health Department and line managed from within Self Help Nottingham. A county wide steering group sets operational targets and guides the work. Membership includes specialist self help workers and representatives from adult social care and health.
Christine is involved in a range of specialist networks and steering groups across the voluntary and statutory sectors and she is developing closer working relationships with Locality Management Teams in the Adult Social Care and Health Department. She is also setting up a countywide database of self help groups for health and social care agencies who are working with people with long term conditions.
A Conference is being planned for 11 June 2008 for members of self help groups based in the north of the county. For further information send an e-mail by clicking here.
