Practical services for self help groups in Nottingham and district

Self Help Nottingham provides a range of practical services for new and established groups in Nottingham and district. Most of the services are free, such as re-directing mail and producing designs for leaflets and posters; other services such as photocopying and franking mail are charged at cost. Contact us for further details.

Photocopying

Groups can use our photocopier. We have a good supply of A4 white and coloured paper, A4 card - some colours available, A3 white paper and a limited number of colours and photocopier labels.
Group members can call in the office to do their own copying or it can be left for us to complete. Documents can also be scanned and sent electronically to an email address.
We can also print your documents in colour.

Ring 0115 911 1662, Monday-Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm, to make an appointment to use the photocopier, or to discuss your needs further.

Design and printing service

We are able to desktop publish to produce a range of documents, such as:

  • Posters, leaflets and handouts
  • Letterheads and compliment slips
  • Newsletters

Costs:

We don't charge for the design service and the only cost incurred is for photocopying/printing. Our current costs per sheet are:

A4 black ink - (single sided) - 5p
A4 black ink - (double sided) - 9p
A4 colour ink - (single sided) - 10p
A4 colour ink - (double sided) - 15p

For printing on card, labels, laminates and other materials, please contact us for costs and further information.

Places for Posters

We have produced a booklet of suggestions of where posters can be displayed in and around Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. These include libraries, community centres, GPs surgeries and Play Centres. In some cases the circulation to different venues will be undertaken for you, you just need to follow the instructions. The booklet is free to members of Self Help Groups in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Meeting rooms

We have two meetings rooms for use by groups. The large one will take about sixteen people comfortably and the smaller one five or six people. The rooms are free to new self help groups for an agreed time period. Established groups are charged a small fee. Please contact us for prices.
We also have a list of other meeting rooms in and around Nottingham. Please contact us to obtain a copy.

Public liability insurance

We can advise on brokers to approach for reasonably priced insurance.

Office equipment

We have a laminator and thermal binder for use by group members.
Please contact us to arrange a convenient time, to check that we have the materials that you require and for costs.

Mail

We can help with your mail in two ways, either acting as a postbox or franking bulk mail-outs:

  • Postbox: for groups who don't want to give out their personal details we can act as a postbox and re-direct mail to your group. This is usually dealt with and re-directed on the day it is received.
  • Franking Mail: group members can either call in to do their own franking or it can be left for us to do for you. The charge is at cost i.e. the postage used. Franked post is usually priced lower than postage stamps thus making a saving for the group.

Please contact us to make arrangements.

Transport

We have a copy of TATA - Transport Accessible To All, produced by Nottinghamshire County Council.
This guide is of particular use to those people who for reasons of disability or isolation need to use accessible transport to reach the services considered as essential to leading an independent and fullfilling life.
The information in the guide is presented in an easy to read format with additional information such as telephone numbers and addresses.
