New Groups

There are a number of new groups in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire:

Adoptee Support Group, Nottingham
A group where adopted adults can meet and share experiences, resources and advice in an informal, supportive and confidential environment.

Champions of Change, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
An independent network of local people who have used/are using mental health services and support each other to help improve local mental health services, raise awareness of mental health issues and reduce stigma.

Disordered Eating, Nottingham
A group for people who are currently suffering, or who have previously suffered from, disordered eating e.g. anorexia, bulimia, compulsive eating, obesity, exercise addiction etc.

Eastwood Women's Care Group
A professionally facilitated group for women who are using or have used mental health services, that live in or near to Eastwood.

Friends of Earlybird, Nottingham
Support group for parents of children who are being assessed or have been assessed for an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and who are taking part or have completed the Early Bird programme.

Irish Community Cancer Self Help Group, Nottingham
A self help group, supporting Irish people affected by cancer, including family and carers in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

KHUSHI Self Help Group
A self help group for Asian women who have had experience of mental health problems. Offers the chance to meet other women, to share experiences, coping strategies and information.

Loss of Someone to Suicide, Nottingham
Loss Of Someone to Suicide, LOSS, is a new self help group for those who have experienced the suicide of a family member or someone close. Open to people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Miscarriage Support Group, Retford
Supports families who have experienced the loss of a baby. Open to people in Retford, Bassetlaw and surrounding areas.

Newark Diabetic Group
Previously called In Touch, Newark.  A self help group for people with diabetes in Newark and district.  Aims to create a warm, friendly and informative environment to meet and talk to other people with diabetes, offering help and advice to one another.

Notts LGBT Alcohol Support
Previously called the LGBT Recovery Group, Nottingham.  A user-led support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people to meet safely and discuss everyday issues around alcohol problems.

Nurture Nottingham
A social group for all women from all backgrounds. The group aims to reduce isolation and embrace diversity, welcoming women particularly from Nottingham and across Nottinghamshire.

PACE, Nottingham
Support group for young people with eating disorders and parents/carers.

Phoenix Men's Group, Nottingham
A self help group for men who have been through the criminal justice system and feel that their behaviour was due or linked to one or more of the following; anger management, drink or drugs, relationship breakdown, unresolved issues of neglect or abuse during childhood, having considered or self harmed.

SMART Recovery Group, Mansfield
(Previously met in Ollerton.) SMART Recovery is an abstinence oriented recovery programme which works to help people gain control over their drinking, drugs and other addictions. It uses a common-sense self help programme based on scientifically tested approaches to addiction.

Supporting Families Bereaved due to Violent Crime, Nottingham
A group offering support for families bereaved due to violent crime and sudden traumatic death in Nottingham and across the East Midlands.

Visually Impaired Parents - VIP, Nottingham
A self help group for visually impaired parents, offering a safe place to meet and share experiences, reduce isolation and share information.
