Getting to the building

Self Help Nottingham's office is in Ormiston House, situated on Pelham Street which is in Nottingham City Council's Clear Zone. This means that vehicles cannot enter the area marked as Clear Zone between the hours of 10.00am to 4.30pm seven days a week. The Clear Zone usually covers pedestrianised roads. Vehicles can enter Pelham Street outside these hours for loading and unloading only. Loading and unloading is defined as not leaving the vehicle for more than ten minutes without being revisited and up to a total of twenty minutes without attracting the attentions of a traffic warden.

Vehicular access to Pelham Street:

  • from Lower Parliament Street via Broad Street, right into Carlton Street, right into George Street, left into Lincoln Street and left down Clumber Street. (There is now no access via Thurland Street.) Pelham Street runs up the hill from the bottom of Clumber Street on the left.
  • from Fletcher Gate, turn right at the junction of Victoria Street and immediately left into Pelham Street. Pelham Street is now two-way, although the signs don’t yet indicate this. To exit Pelham Street it might be best to do a U turn and exit the same way as entering. At the top of Pelham Street there is no right turn back towards Fletcher Gate, instead turn left and left again into George Street.

Ormiston House is situated about half way along Pelham Street between a fashion shop and the Pit and Pendulum pub and opposite Ladbrokes.

Anyone requiring assistance to walk to or access the building should make arrangements by ringing 911 1662 in advance.
